I have spent 21 years in financial services. I started my career with LEAP training on day one under agency trainer Ben Rovee. Today I work on a multi-advisor team that serves pre-retirees and retirees. My approach is simple. I listen first, organize everything, explain complex topics clearly, and use LEAP’s philosophy and tools to help clients make confident decisions.
One of the biggest surprises for many clients comes from how tax deferral works in retirement. Most people understand how tax deferral helps while they are working. What they do not realize is the impact it has later.
When those required minimum distributions kick in, it changes everything, their taxes, their Social Security, even their Medicare premiums. I show them what their RMDs will look like at 75, and they say, “What do you mean?” They have been told for years to defer, defer, defer, but no one explained what happens next.
By modeling RMDs, Social Security taxation, and Medicare thresholds on the Leap Model, I help clients see the full effect on their income and their family’s future taxes. Once they see their own numbers, it clicks. That is when they understand why balance matters.
HOW I EXPLAIN TAXES WITH LEAP
I use LEAP’s philosophy and calculators to make tax conversations easier to understand.
One of LEAP’s fundamental rules is only put into your 401(k) what you are being matched. You do not want to overfund tax-deferred accounts. Balance matters.
I also helped the LEAP team improve the IRA Transfer Calculator after the SECURE Act. It shows people not only what taxes they will pay over their lifetime, but what their children might pay after they inherit those accounts. Seeing that visual impact makes a difference.
The combination of LEAP’s calculators and visuals helps clients understand why diversified savings and steady Roth conversions may lead to lower lifetime taxes.
My story reflects what long-time LEAP users know. Principles build trust. Organization creates clarity. Simple visuals move clients from worry to decisions. That is LEAP in action.
